Born in Kilburn this visitor centre is housed within his original workshop and also occupies an adjacent blacksmith's shop. He worked solely with oak and every item that he produced carried his mouse symbol earning him the name "The Mouseman".
It is open at the following times:
Easter to September: Daily from 10.00am to 5.00pm
October: Tuesday - Sunday from 10.00am to 5.00pm
November and December: Wednesday - Sunday from 11.00am to 4.00pm
The admission charges are:
Adults - £4.00
Children - £2.50
Family ticket - £10.00 (admits 2 adults and 2 children)
The centre contains many examples of Thompson's work and also includes exhibitions detailing his life. The visitor centre opened in 1994 and was refurbished in 2002. It is located close to the long distance walk The Cleveland Way, which passes through the village of Kilburn.
